Thoughts of the week

1. Instagram is finally bringing back the chronological feed. Took them long enough. I updated my app but don't have it yet.

2. The new L'oreal Age Perfect Midnight Serum is really lovely. I've been using it for four weeks now and have seen a difference in my skin. It's soft, smooth and glowing. L'Oreal is 50% off at Priceline at the moment too.

3. If you haven't yet discovered Anna Przy (akprzy) on Instagram yet, check her out. She's really funny.

4. Book lovers, if you are looking for a new read, Educated by Tara Westover is brilliant.

5.  Is anyone on Vero? If you are send me your username please.

FFS Friday - Boofer

Hello beautiful Friday people. How are you all?

I hate secrets, I really do. I like to be open and honest. Why do I constantly find myself in a position where I have to keep secrets?
I had to keep secrets in my last job, it's turning out to be the same with my current casual position.
I don't like knowing things about people, especially when those people aren't aware that I know those things. It feels dishonest.
It's not fun.
That's all I've got to say about that.

I still don't have a clothesline I can use. Tiger has been hanging out the washing for about four weeks now. You'd think he'd just lower the clothesline so I could hang the washing out but he hasn't. It's quite annoying not being able to hang out the washing when I want to.

How many more weeks do we think it'll take him to fix the clothesline?

Speaking of Tiger, I have a feeling he's about to pinch my car. I have a cute, zippy little car that I love to drive. He has a horrible big boofer of a 4wd that I don't like to drive.

His car currently costs over $130 to fill up. My car costs just under $80 to fill up. Tiger uses 1 tank of fuel a week. By using my car he'd save $50 a week.
I really don't want to drive his boofer of a car.

What's the bet this time next week I'm driving the boofer?

Don't you just love it when your kids make you look like a liar? Chai did that last week. It was pretty funny. Kids from year three up currently have to wear a mask at school. Chai's really been struggling with it. He uses the surgical masks as they're easy to breathe in, but he still struggles. I tried to get a mask exemption for him a few weeks ago. We couldn't get in to our usual Dr and the Dr we saw refused to give us one.
Last week his teacher told me that Chai needs an exemption as he's not coping at all, so I took him to the Dr again. Once again we couldn't get in to our usual Dr.
Whilst I told the Dr that Chai struggles with mask use and needs an exemption he happily sat beside me, calmly wearing his mask and showing no signs of distress.
When the Dr asked him if he could cope with wearing a mask at school all day, he said that he could! Hahaha, I looked so silly.

It was pretty funny. When we got out he was all upset because he can't cope with wearing a mask all day. I asked him why he didn't tell the Dr that and he couldn't give me a reason. FFS.

When I told the teacher what had happened, she once again told me that he needs an exemption. Not sure how I'm going to manage that when Chai doesn't help at all.

Kids are so funny.

Thoughts of the week

1. I'm sure I have thoughts, I just don't know what they are at the moment.

2. I tried a power tea this week. It was interesting. I do think it helped give me energy and motivation. Maybe I need to have one every day, I might get things done.

3. Who shopped the Afterpay Day sales? I didn't. There was plenty I wanted but nothing I needed. It's not a bargain if you don't need it.

4. Have food prices gone up where you are? Here in Western Australia they have, groceries are so expensive now. Most items have gone up by at least 50 cents, some by more than $2. It's crazy.

5. I've started doing surveys on PureProfile again. It's an easy way to make a little bit of extra money.
If you want to join use my link and we'll both get some extra cash.

FFS Friday - Moral

It's story time.

Years ago we had a lovely friendship with another couple. We knew them for years and all got along until they separated. When they separated we remained friends with them both.

After a while the male started making bad choices and going off track. First he lost his job because he punched a workmate, then he lost his unit because he was rude to the owner so they wouldn't renew his lease, then he lost his transport because he had a car crash, etc. It just got worse and worse. Watching him make bad choices was tough, trying to support him through it all was even tougher.

Eventually his mental health took a sharp decline and he became quite erratic. I wasn't comfortable being around him as he was behaving very strangely. He'd ring and ramble on for hours, even when I told him I couldn't talk. At the time we'd just moved down south, I was six months pregnant, had a two year old and Tiger was FIFO. One of the last times I talked to this friend he called whilst Chai was in the bath. I explained that I couldn't talk because Chai was in the bath but he kept on talking so in the end (after half an hour of him talking and me telling him I couldn't talk), I hung up.

After that he kept on calling and asking for our address and saying he wanted to visit. I told him I was happy for him to visit when Tiger was home but not comfortable with him being there whilst Tiger was away. He was really pushy about getting our address but I wouldn't give it to him. The last time I spoke to him he said if I didn't give him our address he'd come down and drive around until he found me. It was really strange.

After that I stopped answering his calls.
Tiger continued to speak to him for another few weeks until the day when he said to Tiger that he could disable him, have his way with me and there was nothing Tiger could do about it.

That was the last time Tiger spoke to him.

We've had nothing to do with him for the last eight years. No phone calls, no emails, nothing.

A few weeks ago Tiger got a phone call from a mobile number he didn't recognise. He was busy so didn't answer. It was our ex friend, who left a message asking Tiger to call him back.
I told Tiger to block him and be done with it.
A few days later Tiger got another phone call with a more insistent message telling him to answer his phone. I again told Tiger to block him.
He didn't. Tiger messaged and said he was busy, to which the ex friend replied that he wanted to come and visit us! WTF?
Tiger said that we were busy.
I told Tiger he should have blocked him. Tiger feels like he owes him an explanation.

Last week I had a call from a number I didn't recognise. I don't answer numbers I don't recognise. When I listened to the message, guess who it was? Yep. I didn't listen to the whole message, I'm not interested.
I blocked him straight away.

I am not going to enter into a discussion with him. I owe him nothing. I don't owe him an explanation, I don't have to talk to him.
If I hadn't blocked him, his calls and messages would have caused me stress. I don't need any more stress.

I have no idea how he got our phone numbers, but we've had the same numbers for years so maybe he still had them. If I find out that someone gave them to him I'll be having a word to them about protecting my privacy and safety.

Here's the moral of my story:
It's okay to block people. You don't owe an explanation to anyone. If you don't want to talk to someone that's okay. Block and move on. Protect your space. Conserve your energy for the people who are important to you. Block and delete the people who don't add value to your life.

End of story.

Cosmedix Lumi Crystal Liquid Crystal Lip Hydrator

Cosmedix Lumi Crystal Liquid Crystal Lip Hydrator. What a long name for a lip gloss! I won this gorgeous gloss in a competition a few years ago. If I hadn't there's no way I'd own it as it costs $99. Yes, that wasn't a typo, it's a $99 lip gloss. Crazy.

$99 for 4mls of product. Or, if you live in the US it's only $38 which is much more reasonable.

Here's what Cosmedix has to say about Lumi Crystal Liquid Crystal Lip Hydrator: Lumi Crystal instantly transforms the look of lips and deeply conditions for a rejuvenated, softer-looking pout. Formulated with a 90% pure liquid crystal base and a plumping peptide, this indulgent Liquid Crystal Lip Hydrator delivers a burst of hydration to dry, dull lips, sealing in long-lasting moisture with a high-shine finish. Unlike a basic balm or gloss, this prismatic iridescent lip topper also helps soften and plump the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Wear it alone or over your favourite lipstick for a barely-there, light-reflecting finish that leaves lips looking outrageously radiant and fresh.

For $99 I also expect it to make me coffee.

But, enough about the price. What's the gloss like? It's lovely. It has a gorgeous luminescent glow that looks different according to the light. It switches between a luminous pink, green, gold and pear. The formula is super hydrating and feels like a lip balm.Texture wise it's quite light so only lasts around an hour before I need to reapply.

It has a light, fruity scent with no flavour. The packing is what you'd expect from a $99 lipgloss, substantial, well made and pretty.

It work well on it's own and looks amazing over lipstick, especially dark colours.

Whilst I won't be repurchasing this any time soon, it's been a pleasure to use.

Ingredients: cholesteryl oleyl carbonate, cholesteryl nonanoate, cholesteryl stearate, flavour, aqua, sorbitol, palmitoyl tripeptide-38, cetearyl ethylhexanoate, caprylyl glycol, 1,2-hexanediol, eclipta prostrata extract, phenyl t-butylnitrone, neem leaf extract, moringa oleifera seed extract, rice bran oil, corn silk extract, sucrose cocoate, sorbitan isostearate, tropolone, ceramide np, brassica alba sprout Extract, portulaca pilosa extract, sodium benzoate.

FFS Friday - Fun fun fun

Last week I had one of those days.
You know the ones where nothing goes right?

I woke up at 4am. Nice.
Got up and realised that one of the boys had wet the bed.
Stripped the bed and put everything in the washing machine.
Got the boys ready for school.
Chai was making himself breakfast when a bit of hot oil splashed on his foot. He dropped his bowl full of food which smashed and food went all over the floor.
Thankfully Chai was okay.
Cleaned up the mess.
Got the boys to school.
Raced home, hung out the washing and then headed out to the Telstra store.
I had to swap my phone over and knew it was going to take a while.
I wanted a 9am appointment but the earliest appointment was 10am.
They started swapping everything over at 10.05am.
I had to be back in town at 12.45am.
At 11am it wasn't even at 30% so they told me to come back in half an hour.
I had no way of telling the time as they had my phone and my watch is still being repaired.
I decided to get a coffee.
Realised I could only get takeaway because I didn't have my phone with my vax cert on it. Couldn't check in either because no phone.
Couldn't read my book because it's on my phone.
Couldn't call anyone because no phone.
Sat around for 35 minutes then went back.
Phone was only at 45%. FFS.
Realised that the shoe repair store had a clock I could check.
Wandered around the shopping centre until I had to leave to go back into town.
Told the Telstra staff I'd be back later.
Stopped off to get some lunch but everything was over priced so I didn't bother.
Raced to the boys school, served them all icy poles then raced back to Telstra.
Realised I hadn't still had lunch but didn't have time.
Got back to Telstra just as my phone finished transferring everything over.
It took 4 hours to transfer everything because I forgot to delete my videos. FFS.
Remembered there was a sushi shop so got a hand roll.
They only had a spicy chicken one. I do not like spicy. It was not nice.
Raced back in to town and picked up the boys.
Chai had therapy so we stopped at the supermarket to get the boys a snack.
I'd run out of water so got a bottle of water.
Tipped the water all over myself and the car seat when I was trying to fill up my water bottle.
Didn't have anything to mop it up with so had to drive around with a soaking wet bum.
Got to therapy and realised that I'd left the paperwork I needed at home.
Chai finished therapy, we got into the car and I couldn't find my sunnies.
Found them in the toilet at therapy.
Got home just as it started raining.
All the bedding was still on the line. Got it off just in time.
I'd planned on having chicken burgers for dinner but realised that four of the six patties I'd defrosted were not chicken. I have no idea what they were.
Served dinner, did the bed time routine and climbed into bed.
The boys would not go to sleep.
They were still awake at 9.30pm. FFS.
I survived to live another day.
Fun.

Thoughts of the week

I have a funny story that I haven't told yet. It happened last year.

We were at the Bunbury Markets. They're an outdoor markets with lots of different stalls.

I saw this couple walking around and the bloke was looking at everyone, smiling and nodding. I thought to myself "Look at this dickhead, nodding at everyone like he's famous."
His partner was just acting normally.
He nodded at Tiger so I asked Tiger if he knew him but he didn't. He had no idea why this stranger was nodding at him.

As we were wandering around I saw them again and he was doing the same thing. His partner kept her head down and looked like she didn't want to attract attention. No one was approaching them so I decided he mustn't be famous, just a silly fool who thought he was someone.

A few days later I realised that it was Locky and Irena from The Bachelor. Hahahaha.

FFS Friday - What?

I am so very tired. All the time. I don't remember when I didn't feel tired. Pretty sure I've been tired since I got pregnant with Chai.

So. I've had a saga with my watch. It's a few months old and the back button stopped working. I was just going to ignore it, but it's a new watch and it should work, so I took it to Telstra. I knew it wasn't going to be straightforward because Telstra.

They took the watch and we waited. Two weeks after we'd given them the watch we got a message saying that they'd received it at the repair centre. Yes, it took two weeks to get there! FFS. Knowing how bad Australia Post is you'd think they would have used a courier, but no, they sent it regular mail. FFS.

But, here's where the fun started. Wednesday we got a message with a tracking number saying the watch was on it's way back to me. Yay!
The tracking number didn't work.
Thursday we got an email saying it had been sent to Samsung for repair. WTF?
Friday we got a message from Samsung saying they'd received it.
Later that day we got a message with a tracking number saying our parcel would be delivered by COB Friday. Now we were really confused. At 1.03pm we got a message saying it'd been delivered.
It wasn't delivered to our house.
We called the Telstra store but got the grumpy person who refused to check if it was there.
Saturday we called the Telstra store again and discovered that it wasn't my watch that had been sent to the Telstra store, it was my new phone. (The phone wasn't due to arrive until after 3 March).

Monday morning I received a screen shot (of a blank screen) that had been taken from my watch.
I was at the Telstra store that day so they checked for me and there's nothing on the record saying what's happening with my watch. They're just as confused as I am.

Yesterday I contacted Telstra. They have no idea what's going on with my watch, they aren't even sure where it is. Nice. Very nice.

So I have no watch and no one knows what's going on. It's been 4 weeks now.
Fun.

I'd really like my watch back.

Naked Sundays Glow and Go SPF 50+ Lip Oil

We all know how much I love a lip oil. They're the best thing to have been invented since lip balm. My love for lip oils runs deep. Not a day goes past where I don't use a lip oil.

Naked Sundays recently released a SPF 50+ lip oil. It's the first SPF lip oil I've used. I had high hopes (I always do).

They've hit the mark with this on several points and there's one big downfall.

Firstly, the positives.

It's hydrating, smells great, has a light, quickly absorbed texture, it's easy to use and the SPF 50+ is brilliant.
Whilst it looks like it'd have a sheer pink tint, on me it applies clear (I have very pigmented lips).
The texture is very light, I can feel it on my lips for about fifteen minutes.
I like the fruity scent and the sheer pink is really pretty, I'm sure it'd look great on less pigmented lips.

They totally missed the mark with the flavour. It tastes bad. Really bad. Bad enough that I don't want to use it very often. Why? Why do companies do this? Anything that goes on the lips should be tested for flavour. Either a nice flavour or flavour free. Something that tastes bad just shouldn't be released.

I think it's reasonably priced at $29.95, but it's not something I'll buy again. Bondi Sands have great SPF 50 lip balms with amazing flavours. They're more hydrating, last longer and have a glossier finish. Plus, they are only $5.99. You can get five of them for the price of the Naked Sundays lip oil.
