Thoughts of the month

1. This month has gone so fast!

2. My baby turned four this month. I still remember the days when I was so desperate to have a baby and now I have two.

3. I'm struggling to come up with thoughts, it's been a tough month.

4. That's because it appears my Crohn's is back. Feck.

5. This month one of my online friends was subjected to some really nasty comments. It made me realise that we are so used to seeing photoshopped images that we no longer know what a real person looks like.

6. Also, what is with these awful people? Why do they think they have the right to make such awful comments about someone? I'll bet that they wouldn't make comments like that if they were face to face with the person, so why do it online? And what happened to "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all".

7. We are thinking about selling our house and building. The thought of building fills Tiger with excitement and me with dread. I am not a details person.

8. I'm a bit slow to the part but I've just found out about the Ellie Goulding/Ed Sheeran thing. Wow.

FFS Friday - Duckity Duck Duck Duck

I'm still sick. FFS.

I'm also freaking out. FFS.

For the past six months I've been getting a pain under my rib. I went to the Dr, had blood tests and an ultrasound but they couldn't find anything wrong. Yesterday I found out the pain is Crohn's. FFS.

It's in a different spot to what it was before which means the Crohn's is active again. FFS.

I'm freaking out. FFS.

I don't want to deal with this. FFS.

I can't get sick, how will I look after my babies if I'm sick? It's not an option. FFS.

Fucking stupid Crohn's. FFS.

My amazing naturopath has moved and I can't get in touch with him. He fixed me last time, who will fix me this time? FFS.

Tomorrow I will put on my big girl pants and deal with it. Today I am freaking out. FFS.

It's all I can think about. FFS.

Fucking Crohn's. FFS.

It explains a lot. I now understand why I've been so exhausted and irritable and struggling to deal with life. FFS.

As I sit here I can feel the pain, it doesn't go away. Fucking Crohn's. FFS.

But enough about that.

Wednesday morning Tiger had an appointment at 8am. He was getting ready when he called out to me in a panicked voice and told me that Eljay had taken half a sleeping tablet. FFS.

Tiger had left it on top of the bathroom cabinet, not knowing that Eljay now climbs up onto the cabinet. FFS.

It's a trick he mastered whilst Tiger was away. FFS.

Tiger had been in the shower but not watching him!? WTF? FFS.

He got out of the shower, saw Eljay licking his lips and saw that the tablet was missing so went into panic mode. FFS.

I doubted that Eljay would have eaten it because it wouldn't taste nice, but Tiger insisted he did. FFS.

The poisons information line told me that he was right on the boarder line so we had to watch for the next six hours and if he vomited a lot or he got really hypo we had to take him straight to hosptial. FFS.

He seemed his normal happy self. Not FFS.

Tiger got halfway to his appointment then decided to come home because he was too worried about Eljay. FFS.

He got home and wandered around in a panic. FFS.

I asked Eljay if he ate the tablet and he said no, so I checked the bathroom and found it. Not FFS.

I'd mistakenly assumed that Tiger had checked for the tablet cause surely that's the first thing you'd do, but clearly Tiger thought it'd be more fun to panic. FFS.

Tiger now leaves his tablets well out of Eljay's reach. Not FFS.

See that's the thing with a FIFO lifestyle. Lots of changes happen whilst Tiger is away and he doesn't know about them. He knows about the big milestones but the little things (like Eljay getting into everything) he doesn't know about. So he comes home and has to learn everything then just when he's got the hang of it he's off again. Stupid FIFO.

There ends my weekly whinge. Please tell me something funny to take my mind off my colon.

The Beauty Scenario Tag

I saw this on Klara's blog and thought it'd be fun to do.

You have to get rid of all of your foundations and only keep one high-end and one drugstore, which do you keep?
As surprising as it may be, I don't actually have a favourite foundation. I'd love to find my holy grail foundation but it hasn't happened yet. I've tried plenty of foundations that were nice, but nothing that I love or I'd repurchase.

You go for an interview and the lady interviewing you has lipstick on her teeth. Do you approach the subject or ignore it completely?
I'd ignore it completely.

You’re not feeling yourself and you need a pick-me-up lipstick, which do you go for?
Nars Dragon Girl. It's the ultimate red and always makes me feel good.

You go back in time for a day to your teenage years, how would you do your hair or makeup differently?
I was a teenager in the 80's so there's nothing I'd do differently, 80's hair and makeup was awesomely cringe worthy and I wouldn't change that for anything.

You ask your hairdresser for a shoulder length Pixie Lott hair cut but they hear wrong and give you a pixie cut, what do you do?
A) Smile, say thank you, call your mum and cry hysterically B) Cry in the chair and things get awkward C) Complain to the manager and demand a refund.
I'd hope that I'd notice all my hair getting chopped off before it got to that point, but if I didn't it'd be C, although I'd refuse to pay so there would be no need for a refund.

Your friend surprises you with a 4 day city break and you have one hour to pack, which ‘Do It All’ palette do you pack in your makeup bag?
This is going to shock some of you but I don't own a Do it All palette. I know! The horror.

Your house has been robbed, don’t worry everyone is safe, but your beauty stash has been raided. What’s the product you really hope is safe?
Everything! All my high end lipsticks, I'd be really upset if I lost them.

Your friend borrows makeup and returns it in an awful condition. Do you:
A) Pretend you haven’t noticed B) Ask them to re-purchase it C) Secretly do it back to their makeup.

I'm choosing none of these. There's no way I'd ever lend my makeup to someone, friend or not. I'd either give it to them to keep or not let them touch it. I do not share my makeup.

If you'd like to do this tag, consider yourself tagged. Please leave me a link to your post in the comments so I can have a read.

Maskd

They say that it's good to regularly do something that scares you and for me using Maskd* was my something that scares me. Face masks aren't scary you say, but this one was. The instructions say that it'll tingle/burn. That scares me a lot as I have sensitive skin and tingling indicates irritation. Nevertheless I bravely gave it a go, expecting that when I removed the mask my skin would be red and irritated. You can imagine how surprised I was when my skin looked great! Not a hint of redness! I really was amazed because the first time I used it, it didn't just tingle, it burned. The burn wasn't unbearable, but it was quite intense and it kept burning the whole time I had the mask on.

The second time I used Maskd there was no burn only a tingle which subsided after about five minutes. Now that I'm using it regularly (at least once a week) there is barely any tingling.
Obligatory face mask photo

The results that I get from Maskd has converted me into a face mask fan. I'm usually really lazy with face masks, I have plenty of them but they usually go off before I use them, I just don't make the effort as I don't usually see any results. Maskd was the game changer for me as it makes a noticeable difference to my skin.

Since I've been using Maskd regularly my skin feels softer, looks more radiant and fresher. Despite a decided lack of sleep lately people keep on telling me how well I look and I put it all down to Maskd. I now use Maskd once or twice a week, it's a regular part of my routine.

I usually put it on in the morning when I get up, do my usual morning things and then remove it when I'm in the shower so that I have glowing skin all day.

A 50ml tube of Maskd costs $49.95 and can be purchased here

FFS Friday - See You Next Tuesday

Good morning! I hope you've all had a wonderful week. Can you believe March is nearly over?

Eljay still isn't sleeping well. FFS.

I have had no contact with MIL so it's not because I'm being a See You Next Tuesday (got that off Natalie, isn't it awesome!)

I don't think he's teething, he's been to the chiropractor and as far as I know there are no other reasons why he shouldn't be sleeping well, but he's not. FFS.

I'm fecking exhausted. FFS.

Saturday I had to go out to get nappies for Chai. The boys started fighting the second they woke up and I was drained. FFS.

I was determined it wasn't going to be one of those days so I did my best to cheer them both up, but Chai was too busy missing Daddy to be cheered up. FFS.

We got to the shopping centre, Eljay refused to get into the trolley because he wanted to run around playing with everything and Chai wanted to be carried. FFS.

After losing Eljay twice I put him in the trolley. To show his appreciation he sang me the song of his people the whole time we were out. FFS.

I bought the nappies and the few other things we needed, got the boys into the car, put the trolley in the trolley bay and then realised that I'd got nappies for Eljay not for Chai. FFS.

There was no way I was going to get them out of the car to go and swap them so we went home. FFS.

That meant we had to go out again in the afternoon. FFS.

It was a repeat of the mornings trip. FFS.

Chai wanted to be carried, Eljay didn't want to be in the pram, they both screamed and yelled most of the time we were out, the only difference was I got the right size nappies the second time. FFS.

Monday I came down with a nasty cold. FFS.

I had no-one to help me. FFS.

It should be impossible to get sick when you are solo parenting. FFS.

All I wanted to do was rest and all the kids wanted to do was play. FFS.

Sensing my weakness, they took full advantage of it. FFS.

Things the kids did whilst I was sick:
Spit apple all over the house.
Empty a litre of milk on the floor then splash it all over the chairs, drawers etc.
Bounce a football in the milk.
Put milky hand prints all over the lounge suite.
Take one bite out of four apples then throw them on the ground.
Played soccer with the applies.
Throw an apple in the pool.
Empty out Bella's water five times.
Rub their cups in Bella's poo.
Smear my pink Carmex lip balm all over his face (Eljay).
Get into the junk room and throw toys and clothes everywhere.
Throw their lunch and drinks all over the table then sit in it.
Used the potato masher to try and cut a slice of cheese.
Climbed on the bench and jumped on my laptop.

Instead of the rest that I so desperately needed, I spent the day tidying up the mess they made. FFS.

No rest for the wicked. FFS.

I'm out. It's your turn now.

Boots haul

I bought all this before my no buy started, I know I was supposed to be restricting my beauty spending but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to purchase some things from the UK.
Thanks to Su and Gaelle I had the opportunity to get some products from Boots. The main things I wanted were Soap and Glory products. I wish we could get the whole range here. It's probably a good thing that Boots don't ship to Australia, it'd be very bad for my bank account.

If there's anything you'd like to know more about please let me know. Otherwise I'll be reviewing everything sometime in the wild blue future.

Bite Beauty

If I had to pick one brand of lip products to use for the rest of my life I'd cry. Once I'd gotten over that, there's a good chance I'd choose Bite Beauty. I have quite a few of their products and love them all.

Not only are Bite Beauty products all natural, they smell and taste great too. That's a huge plus for me, I love lip products that taste good.
How cute are the mini lipsticks?

Luminous Creme Lipstick in Fig, Pepper, Lychee (top) and Musk. Lush Lip Tint in Watermelon. High Pigment Pencil in Velvet.
Lip Shine Sante. Lush Fruit Lip Gloss in Strawberry.

I love the B on the Lush Lip Tint. It goes the whole way through too.

Luminous Creme Lipstick in Fig, Pepper, Lychee and Musk. Lush Lip Tint in Watermelon. High Pigment Pencil in Velvet. Lip Shine Sante. Lush Fruit Lip Gloss in Strawberry.

Now for a rundown on each one. The Luminous Creme Lipsticks are halfway between matte and glossy. They last about four hours on my lips before I need to reapply and they feel very balm like. I often use mine in place of balm. I have four, all mini's. Fig and Pepper came in the Colour and Shine to go Mini Travel Set. I wish more companies did mini lipsticks, they're great for carrying around in my handbag. Lychee and Musk make up the Neutral Luminous Creme Lipstick Duo, they currently live in my handbag.

Lush Lip Tint is the Bite Beauty version of a tinted lip balm. It gives a lovely wash of colour and is very hydrating. Plus, it tastes amazing. If you only get one tinted lip balm in your life make it this one.

The High Pigment Lip Pencil is a matte, long lasting lipstick. If applied too heavily it can feel a bit waxy, so use a light hand. This is my least favourite out of all my Bite Beauty products. It's still a good product but not as great as the rest of the range.

There is very little difference between the Lip Shine and Lush Fruit Gloss so I'll review them together. They both smell and taste lovely and last around three hours. If you want a pigmented gloss go for the Lush Fruit Gloss and if you want high shine with sheer colour go for the Lip Shine.

My favourite out of all my Bite Beauty products is the Agave Lip Mask. It's an intensive leave on lip mask that is deeply hydrating. It's one of the most hydrating lip products I've ever used. The original Lip Mask is clear and there is also a tinted version that I have my eye on. Like the rest of the Bite Beauty products it smells and tastes lovely.

I buy my Bite Beauty products from the Natural Supply Co.

FFS Friday - Whinge whine whinge

Sunday my funny commenter struck again. I assume it's the same one who commented on Instagram. Heh.

She loved last weeks FFS Friday installment. Unfortunately her comment had a very rude word in it so it wasn't published.

According to Sallyanne (I'm assuming this isn't her real name), the reason my children don't sleep is because it's karma for me being such a (insert female genitalia swear word here) to their grandmother and I should stop being such a whiny bitch. Hehehe.

Actually, Chai sleeps really well and Eljay usual does too.

The truth is that I'm not nasty to my MIL. I am very nice to her. I whinge about her when she's not around, but I am never rude to her. She my MIL and she's going to be in my life for a long time, so being awful to her would not be a good idea, it'd just make my life more difficult. That's why I whinge about her on the blog. I'm not going to complain about her to Tiger because that's not fair, so my blog is the only place I can whine about her. And so I do.

You can find out a lot about someone if you have their IP address.

I don't understand haters. If you don't like something, move along. Why invest time and energy spouting hate at something or someone?

Having said that, I have to thank you Sallyanne. Last week was going to be my last FFS Friday post because I'm getting sick of them, however knowing how much you love my whinging has given me the motivation to continue, so FFS Friday is here to stay.

Last Friday night after both the boys were asleep I put on my Milky Foot treatment. For those of you who don't know what Milky Foot is, it's these little booties that you put on for an hour and a few days later the skin on your feet starts to peel, getting rid of all the tough, gross skin. You're supposed to put it on then sit around for an hour and you need to keep your feet on the ground.

Of course, that was the night that the kids played up. FFS.

First Chai woke up and wanted me to lay with him till he went back to sleep. FFS.

Then Eljay woke up. FFS.

Every step I took the booties were squelching and crunching so there was no way I could walk quietly. FFS.

I crunchy squelched my way into the bedroom and managed to get Eljay back to sleep. Not FFS.

Then I had to get out of the room quietly without waking him up. FFS.

I contemplated crawling but decided against it. FFS.

I tried sliding my feet along the ground as if I was skating but that was noisier then crunchy squelching so in the end I slowly crunchy squelched my way out of the room. By some miracle Eljay didn't wake up. Not FFS.

Every other night they go to sleep and stay asleep, I should have known they wouldn't do that when I had Milky Foot on! FFS.

My feet are now in the gross peeling stage. I didn't plan this well. FFS.

Everywhere I go I leave a trail of dead skin. Nice. FFS.

Yesterday morning I took Eljay to a singing/dancing class and left dead skin all over the floor. FFS.

I'd thought that it'd be okay as the weather had been cooling down so I was planning on wearing closed in shoes, so naturally this week has been way too hot to wear anything other than sandals. FFS.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, how anyone ever saw fit to put me in charge of two little humans I will never know.

It has recently occurred to me that when Tiger is away I do not wash Chai's hair. FFS.

Tiger has been doing FIFO for two years now. FFS.

I do wet his hair, but don't wash it with shampoo. FFS.

Poor child. It'll be a miracle if my babies make it to adulthood with me in charge. FFS.

That concludes my weekly whinge. If you'd like to whinge, go ahead.

Project Life Detox - Make-up declutter

Over the last few months it's become very apparent to me that I need to set myself some sort of rules regarding my make-up purchases. If you read my first make-up declutter post you'll know I said I was going to stop purchasing make-up and skincare that I don't need. Well guess what? That hasn't happened. I have been a lot better than I was previously, but I'm still buying things that I don't need. Let's be honest, I don't need any more make-up and the only skincare I'll run out of is body scrub, face scrub and cleanser.

They say that it takes six weeks to make a habit and six weeks to break a habit. With that in mind, I've decided to go on a total no buy. No buying any make-up or skincare unless I run out of something (which is unlikely to happen in the next eight weeks). I'm going to do the no buy for all of March and April. To make the no buy easier to stick to, I plan on staying away from the shops. Simple

Every time I'm tempted to buy something I'll write it down and at the end of the no buy I'll do a post with all of the products that I resisted. It'll be interesting to see how I feel about those products at the end of the no buy. I wouldn't be surprised if I look at the list and feel pretty meh about a lot of the products on there.

Wish me luck!

Dear Chai

My precious boy. Today you are four! In my wildest dreams I never imagined I'd be lucky enough to have such a beautiful soul entrusted to my care. You are an amazing person, I love watching you grow and am looking forward to seeing the wonderful man you will turn into.

You are kind, considerate, sensitive, caring, thoughtful, energetic, curious, gentle, brave, cheeky, outgoing and charming.

On the 5th of February you started kindy. The first two days were rough, you got really upset when we left you there and you didn't want to go. You enjoyed it but wanted us to stay with you. The next week was easier, you were so brave saying goodbye and once I'd left you were fine. It's been such a huge step for you and I'm so proud of the way you have handled it. Now you love kindy. I watch you walk in confidently, say hello to everyone, compliment the girls and happily sit down to play. You are very proud of all the things you are learning and come home so excited to show us what you got up to.

You are becoming more and more independent which I love and hate at the same time. Not having you with me all the time is very strange, I miss your company, you are a lot of fun. We have some great conversations and you are so full of joy.

You love singing, dancing and stories, you tell me some great stories. Every night before bed we tell each other stories usually about batman or spiderman. Your favorite thing to play with at kindy are the babies, you are a very caring little man, you've always loved babies.

Dogs are still one of your favourite things, you've loved dogs from the first time you met one as a little baby. It was a huge boxer dog that sat there and licked you whilst you laughed delightedly and put your hand out so that it'd keep on licking you. From that moment on you have adored dogs. You spend a good portion of the time pretending to be a dog and playing with Bella.

Happy birthday my beautiful boy. I love you with all I am and every beat of my heart.

FFS Friday - Butterfingers

Ohh, this one happened a few weeks ago and I forgot to mention it. FFS.

If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen the photo I posted of the stupid butter knives that MIL gave me. Someone commented on my photo and said that it was unfortunate MIL had an ungrateful daughter in law like me. Hahaha. If only she knew.

Methinks she's touchy cause she's a horrible MIL herself.

Heh.

Amazingly I don't have much else to complain about this week. I could complain about my hayfever but I did that last week so I won't bother. I also won't bother complaining about my lack of sleep. I got my weekly summary from FitBit yesterday, it's depressing.

Actually, scratch that, I will complain about my lack of sleep. Check this out.
This is why I'm tired. FFS.

Eljay, who is normally a great sleeper, for the last month has decided that sleep is over rated and waking up constantly is the go. FFS.

I strongly disagree however he fails to see my point of view. FFS.

I'm sofaking tired. FFS.

On a good night he wakes up twice, on a bad night he's up every 45 minutes. FFS.

When he really wants to play he likes me to spend an hour standing next to the cot patting his bottom. FFS.

I have no idea what's going on with him. He's just not sleeping. FFS.

I suspect he may be trying to kill me. FFS.

Or torture me. FFS.

Or both. FFS.

This isn't going to end well. FFS.

Random Thoughts

Who else has totally random thoughts? Surely I mustn't be the only one? Today, for no particular reason I'm going to share some of my random thoughts.

When you're doing the washing, if you have a white top with dark blue arms, does it go in the white or dark load?

And what about clothes with a dark print on a white background? Whites or darks? So confusing. And stripey clothes? White or dark?

Don't get me started on pastel clothes, they aren't white and yet they aren't dark, wtf am I supposed to do with them?

I think I may need to separate my laundry into whites, darks and no f@#*ing idea.

Why is there french writing on lots of cosmetic and skin care products? Is French the second most common language in the world? I think not. Is it just to make them sound fancy? It doesn't work, in fact often it makes the products sound down right scary.

Take Clinique Youth Surge Night. The French version is anti-rides hydrant nuit. Anti rides? What, you don't like going on rides? What sort of rides? Bike rides, show rides? Makes it sound like it'll turn you into a boring, anti fun person. No thanks.

Or how about shower gel? That translates to creme de douche. Cream from a douche? I won't even go there! I don't know about you but I don't want to use a product that's going to turn me into a douche. Or worse, a product that comes from a douche, gross!

I could go on, but I'm sure you get the picture.

Now I've given you a scary look into how my brain works, it's your turn. What are your random thoughts?

February Empties

February has been a pretty dismal month for empties, here's hoping next month will be better, so far it's not looking like it will be though.
In Essence Day Cream -  In Essence are one of my favourite brands for bath and body products, they're expensive but worth every cent. Unfortunately the face care products I've used haven't been as good. The day cream is nice but nothing amazing, I won't repurchase it.

Palmolive Heavenly Vanilla body wash - I like this but wouldn't buy the full size as it's too difficult to get out of the bottle.

Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal shampoo and conditioner - I don't know how it happens but I always seem to have little bottles of Pantene lying around. I'm sure they sneak into the bathroom whilst I'm asleep.

Estee Lauder Double Wear mascara - One of my all time favourite mascara's. If I didn't have a huge stash of mascara's on hand this would be an instant repurchase.
Garnier Beauty Oil Scrub - I'm sure you are all sick of seeing this in my empties. It's awesome. Nothing else to say.

Garnier InvisiCalm deodorant - Meh, this was okay but not amazing.

Mary Kay Botanical Effects cleanser -I really liked this. It's a very gentle cream cleanser that was a pleasure to use.

Clarins HydraQuench Intensive Serum - I need a full sized bottle of this asap. I'll be getting one the next time they have a GWP. It's a strange product, it feels like water but adds the extra moisture that my skin needs. Since I've stopped using it my skin is feeling very dry and tight.

Models Prefer Rosa Perfume -The lasting power of this wasn't great, but it only cost me $10 so I can't complain. It's a lovely rose scent, if you are fan of rose perfumes it's worth checking out.
These two were tosses. The deodorant has gone mouldy and the concealer is hard and dry.
