FFS Friday - Speaking in tounges

Hello beautiful people. How are you all? I have no idea what to complain about today. How is that possible? I'm normally awash with complaints. I must be ill.
I've had no more cooking disasters this week so I can't amuse you with those stories.

It appears that Tiger and I are now talking a different language. I just don't understand him.

Here's the perfect example. This is a conversation we had earlier in the week.

Tiger: I might have got a bbq for $150.
Glossy: Awesome.
Tiger: It's just like ours so I can use their hotplate and put it on ours.
Glossy: If that's all you're buying it for why don't you just get a new hotplate for ours?
Tiger: Because I want a new bbq.
Glossy: I understand that, but if you're only buying the bbq to get the hot plate, wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a hotplate?
Tiger: (speaking patiently like I'm an idiot) No, because I want a new bbq.
Glossy: Yes, but you're talking about buying a bbq just for the hotplate, why wouldn't you just buy a new hotplate?
Tiger: Because I want a new bbq!
Glossy: But are you going to use the new one or just take the hotplate?
Tiger: I'm going to take the hotplate.
Glossy: Exactly, so why not just buy a hotplate?
Tiger: Because I want a new bbq!
Glossy: But you're not getting a new bbq, you're just buying it for the hotplate.
Tiger: I want a new bbq!
Glossy: Don't worry about it, you clearly don't understand me.
Tiger: No, you're not understanding me.
Glossy: Exactly.

Can someone please explain what I missed? I still don't understand.

The same thing has happened a few times this week. Maybe I'm suddenly talking another language? Either that or I've finally gone totally crazy.

The Lip Oil Series: Ciate Lychee and Acai Burst Conditioning Lip Oil

Hello and welcome to the latest edition of The Lip Oil Series.
You can read my other posts by clicking on the label or clicking here,
here, here, here, here and here.

I was lucky enough to be given this lip oil by a friend who knows about my lip oil obsession. Look how pretty it is!

Lip oils that come in a squeeze tube are my favourite. They're easy to apply and I don't have to worry about them getting all gross like the wand ones do.

Ciate have four different version of their lip oil; Watermelon, mango and lime, yuzu and grapefruit, lychee and acai burst. If the other flavours are as good as lychee and acai then I need them all.

This is a really lovely oil. It feels very hydrating, it tastes nice (very important), has a very light pink tint and lasts for a few hours. Once the oil has absorbed my lips feel soft for another few hours, so it's great for those days when I apply my make-up first thing in the morning then don't get to retouch until lunch time.

The great thing about lip oils is that they're non sticky yet they have the shine of a lip gloss, so they're the perfect blend of lip balm and lip gloss. Hence my obsession with them.

This is a vegan product that contains acai oil, avocado oil and lychee extract.

All four flavours are available from Mecca for $25.

Thoughts of the week

1. I've been so uninspired with my Instagram lately, I just can't find the motivation to post. It's the captions I struggle with, it'd be so much easier if I could just post a photo without having to think of something to say about it. I just want to post pretty pictures.

2. I have a few strands of grey hair now, which is perfectly okay. Society would have me believe that I need to hide the greys and try to minimise all other signs of ageing.
I refuse.
I will not feel bad about ageing. I will not hide the perfectly normal signs of my age. I will not hide my grey hair. If I dye my hair it'll be because I want to change the colour, not because I want to hide the grey.
Growing older is a privilege, not something to be ashamed of.

I will not give in to society's attempts to make me feel bad about myself or my body. We are all beautiful just the way we are.

I refuse to bow down to societies unrealistic beauty standards.

3. Mecca beauty loop boxes were released this week. Who placed an order? I was underwhelmed with my box.

4.The BIL will be here in the next few days.

5. Send help. And chocolate. And coffee. And books, candles, lip balm and anything else you think might help.

FFS Friday - Masterchef

Hello Friday! We made it! I hope you've all had a good week.
It occurred to me that my FFS Friday posts haven't been very funny lately.
They are supposed to be funny.
So this week I'm going to tell you about a few of my dinner fails.
It's been one of those weeks.

I'm usually pretty good at cooking but this week I just really couldn't be bothered putting in any effort.

I was looking for quick, easy meals so that I didn't have to put in much effort.

Monday night I decided to make baked chicken. I've never made it before but I found a recipe so off I went.

Now, when I say I follow a recipe what that means is that I look at all the ingredients, mix them all together in the baking dish and then put it on to cook for the required amount of time. I do that with all recipes.

Sounds risky but it's always worked for me.

So, I make the chicken, put it in the oven to cook, check it a few times and get it out when the time is up.

It looks good but looks can be deceiving. The chicken is totally over cooked. FFS.

I soak it in the juices for a while and manage to salvage it but it wasn't great.
I looked at another recipe and realised where I'd gone wrong. The recipe I followed was for chicken thighs, I used chicken breast which requires half the cooking time. Oops.

Undeterred and confident in my cooking abilities, the next day I decided we'd have spag bol made in the slow cooker. We had a full on day and would be out all day so it seemed like the perfect idea.

When we'd discussed it on the weekend Tiger had said we'd need more mince, but as he didn't bother to defrost any I only used one packet of mince.
Forgetting that I was only using one packet I made the spag bol like I usually would.
No worries.

At the end of the day we got home and discovered that we didn't have spag bol, we had soup. FFS.

Soupy spag bol isn't a huge problem, we just strained out the good bits and the rest went down the drain.

Fun times. Maybe if I keep this up Tiger will take over the cooking. He's doing most of it now anyhow, so I might continue to cook awful food until he takes over entirely.
Heh, good plan. I'll let you know how it goes.

Shut Up and Kiss Me by boys Get Naked massage oil

Well this is a first. I've never reviewed a massage oil, it's not normally the type of thing I write about, however I love oils so was excited when I got the chance to trial it.

Here's a little bit of information about Shut Up and Kiss Me by boys:
Shut Up And Kiss Me by boys is designed in Australia using all natural ingredients. Using Ylang-ylang, a potent scent with proven stress-relieving, anti-anxiety and mood elevating properties, the oil is designed to bring people together.

An exotic, intense rich fragrance with a heavy, sweet, slightly fruity scent. The coconut, almond and macadamia oil add a nutty aroma and tones down the usual floral scent ylang-ylang releases.
For the curious, adventurous, romantic and vanilla, it’s all about creating moments that matter with GET NAKED massage oil.

Shut Up and Kiss Me by boys products are made and packed in Melbourne.

Shut Up and Kiss My by boys products are natural, organic, unisex and all-inclusive in terms of gender, sexuality and self-expression.

I've really enjoyed using this, it's become a daily staple. I know it's designed as a massage oil but I love to use it as a daily moisturiser. The scent is beautiful, not heavy like ylang ylang can be, the nut oils help to mellow it out a bit.

I use a light layer all over and my skin feels hydrated and soft all day. It also makes a great perfume and hair oil. It's truly multi use.

Shut Up and Kiss Me by boys products can be purchased from their website
You can purchase a 30ml bottle for $38, 100mls for $69 and 200mls for $110.

Ingredients: macadamia oil (Australian), fractonated coconut oil (Fijian), sweet almond oil (Spanish) and ylang ylang (Madagascan).

Note: This product was provided to me for review.

Thoughts of the week

1. Guess what I purchased from the Sephora sale?
Nothing. Not one single thing. There were a few things that I wanted but nothing that I needed, so I stayed strong and saved my money. Go me.

2. I usually don't like fast food, however this week I had a vegan avocado breakfast burger from Hungry Jacks and it was amazing. It's the sort of thing I'd expect to buy from a cafe not from HJ's.

3. I'm on the hunt for a new under eye concealer. I love my BB Corrector but am looking for something with a bit more coverage. If you've got any recommendations please let me know.

4. Last week my cousin told Tiger we need to send Chai to school because we've both looked totally shattered for the last few months. I'm going to have to tell him that this is just how our faces look now. Sad but true. Hence the need for a new concealer.

5. Guess how much the most expensive lip balm is at Mecca? $120!
Speaking of lip balm, has anyone tried the Clinique Moisture Surge Pop Triple Lip Balm?

FFS Friday - Stay Wild Soul Child

Hello beautiful people. I hope you've all had a lovely week. Ours has been pretty good.

A few weeks ago I had a whinge about how Chai is torturing us. It hasn't stopped. FFS.

Aside from sleep torture, he's also doing noise torture and that's the one that's sending me insane.

He makes extremely annoying noises all the time. By all the time I mean at least once every five minutes. All day every day. FFS.

It's something kids on the spectrum do regularly, it's called stimming. Funnily enough, according to the professionals that we've seen, he isn't on the spectrum.

The noises are really doing my head in. Try as I might to cope with it, I am really, really struggling.
Every time he makes a noise a little piece of my soul dies.

Not just because the noises are extremely annoying. What really gets me is that it's a constant reminder that my baby has issues and if I don't get them sorted out soon he's going to face huge barriers as an adult. That's not the life I want for him.

I can cope with most things but noises really set me on edge. I'm going to have to find a way to cope. Hopefully he'll swap the oral stimming for another tic soon. Having said that, he's been making the noises for three years now so I don't think they'll go away any time soon.

The BIL isn't here yet. He's stuck at the moment with car troubles. They'll be fixed next week then he'll be on his way. I just want it over and done with, waiting for things to happen annoys me.

Today is five months since my ankle surgery.

That's the end of my weekly whine fest. I hope you're all happy and healthy.

Baagi Milagiin ~ Grandmothers Spirit Lip Balm

One thing I'm constantly searching on Instagram is lip balms. I love finding new balms to try from small, Aussie businesses.

I discovered Baagi Milagiin Grandmothers Spirit on Instagram recently and Deb kindly sent me one of her balms to try.

In short, it's love. Instant love. It's so great when you open a new product and love it straight away.

Baagi Milagiin ~ Grandmothers Spirit is an Aboriginal therapeutic bush beauty range made using native Australian plant based ingredients. Their products are all natural and hand made.

So what makes me love this balm?
It has a very subtle honey scent. When I say subtle, I really do mean subtle, the boys can't detect any fragrance at all.
It glides onto my lips and feels instantly soothing.
The packaging is really pretty, you have the choice of a black or white tube.
Two layers give a lovely glossy shine.
After using this product all day my lips felt soft and hydrated.
Being all natural I'm happy for the boys to use it (they keep on pinching it).

You can buy a large 30 gram pot for $30 or a 5 gram tube for $6.
Baagi Milagiin ~ Grandmothers Spirit products can be purchased from their website

I also received a sample of the pink clay mask, it's the best clay mask I've ever used.

Note: This product was provided to me with no obligation to review (Deb doesn't even know I'm writing this post).

Thoughts of the week

1. This week the boys have gone to three birthday parties. Their social life is much better than mine.

2. Have you had your skin checked? I had mine checked on Wednesday. It only takes 15 minutes and is so very important.

3. I've been trying to picture what the world will look like once covid is over. I think it's going to be totally different to the world we once knew.

4. I'm in throw out mode again. I bet I could throw out half of the contents of our house without anyone missing them.

5. For the last hour I've been trying to think of a fifth thought. I've got nothing.

FFS Friday - Whingeapalooza

This week has been crazy. It's been so busy and I don't like it at all.
Having said that, it's been a good week so I shouldn't complain. But I will because that's what FFS Friday is all about.

This week I started what is hopefully the final phase of my ankle rehab. My rehab is all gym based. I've been doing the rehab before my usual gym session, however that will have to change now as my new rehab routine takes me 1 hour and 20 minutes. We get an hour and a half at the gym, so I can't fit in rehab and a workout at the same time.

I can stay at the gym longer, but our allocated creche time is an hour and a half, so it'd mean that Tiger and I would have to take two cars and he'd have to take the kids home whilst I did my workout. First world problems.

This week we got some bad news.
I'm not sure yet how bad the news is.
Tiger's had problems with his elbows for years. They haven't bothered him too much so he's never done anything about it other than visit the physio every now and again.

Now that he's off work I convinced him to go to the Dr about his elbows. It wasn't good news.
They both have issues and one elbow will require surgery sooner rather than later. The Dr says he doesn't know how Tiger has managed to function with the bad elbow for all this time.

So now we're stuck. If he has surgery he won't be able to work. If he's not working we can't pay our bills once Jobseeker returns to it's normal rate.
I need to retrain before I get a job, so I'm no help. I have no idea what we're going to do but I'm sure we'll get through. We're hoping that he has income protection insurance.

See what I mean? It's bad news, it might be really bad news or it might not be so bad. It all depends on what the surgeon says.

The BIL is slowly drawing closer. We don't know when he's going to get here, it could be this weekend, it could be a few weeks time. The wait is really annoying me!

That's all I have to complain about this week.
I hope you've had a lovely week and have a beautiful weekend.

Where I shop: Saison

I've discovered a beautiful online shop and I just had to share it with you.

It's Saison, an Australian store that has the most gorgeous range of products. I hadn't heard of them until my bff gave me a voucher for my birthday.

Choosing what to buy was so difficult, I could easily have spent a huge amount there!

I chose beauty products, however they also have a great range of brushware, homewares, perfume and home fragrances.

If you're looking for a gift or want to pamper yourself, check out Saison.
Shipping is free over $100 and if you sign up to their newsletter you'll get $10 off your first order.

Have you shopped at Saison?
What's your favourite online store?

Note: This post is not sponsored or an ad.
The store link is not an affiliate link.

Thoughts of the week

1. This week has been gloriously wet and wild.

2. Speaking of that, how crazy has this winter been? We've had such intense storms, it's been crazy. We'd normally only get one full on storm per winter, we've had three so far and we're only one month into winter.

3. Why do they call it unlawful wounding? Is there any type of wounding that is legal?

4. I've been shopping with Nourished Life for years. This week I went to place an order and noticed that they no longer have free shipping for all orders. Now you have to spend $50 to get free shipping. Why would they do that?
I didn't place my order.

5. If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen my posts about a Napoleon serum I purchased only to find it was half empty. I returned it to Priceline the next day and my money was refunded.
Napoleon messaged me on Instagram and asked me to email them with details of when and where I purchased the serum and photos of the half empty bottle. I emailed them as requested.
You know what they said? Take it back to the store for a refund, if they don't give you a refund let us know.
What a waste of time. They could have said that when they messaged me on Instagram!
I've never had a great  experience with Napoleon products.

FFS Friday - Where The Field?

Hello and welcome to my Friday whinge. How are you all? I hope you've had a good week.
Our week has been pretty good. Chai has eased up on the torture and things have been quite peaceful.

The BIL is now on his way here. Tiger is thinking that it'll take him a week to get here (meaning he'll be here mid next week). I think he'll be here today or tomorrow. FML.

He travelled half the distance in his first day and told his parents he wants to get here asap. FFS.

I'm filled with dread. Hoping for the best but expecting the worst. Let's hope it's not as bad as I imagine it's going to be.

Do you ever wonder WTF is wrong with people?
I do.
Thanks to the corona virus outbreak in Victoria, people in my town have started hoarding toilet paper again. WTF?

Why? We are in regional Western Australia. There are very few covid cases here. We don't have an outbreak. Victorian people can't come to WA, we aren't at risk, so why the fuck are people hoarding toilet paper again?

Why did they start hoarding it in the first place? Covid doesn't give you gastro, it's not a stomach bug. I just don't understand. Stockpiling food I understand, but not loo rolls, that's just stupid.

Silly me didn't realise that I needed to keep up with my loo paper, so when we were nearly out and I went to replenish I got a rude shock to see that the shelves were bare.

The stupid thing is that the silly hoarders force us all to buy more than we need just in case they start hoarding again and we can't buy dunny roll. FFS.

From now on I'm going to buy loo paper every few weeks, just so that we don't run out. How ridiculous.

The other thing I really want to know is, what are they doing with all the loo paper they hoarded? Surely the people who hoarded it during the first wave of idiocy have still got plenty left, so why are they hoarding again? Or are they not hoarding and have another load of people gone crazy and decided to start hoarding?

Maybe they take it in turns hoarding?

I've got a good idea. They could assign everyone a number and when it's your turn you can buy dunny rolls then you can't buy it again till your turn comes round a few weeks later. Sort of like sprinkler days except for loo paper. It could be based on your house number like watering days are, so you'd just show your license and they'd let you buy toilet tissue.

I'm full of good ideas.

Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish

Essie Gel Couture Stitch by Stitch, Top Coat, Fairy Tailor

I'm not a nail polish person. I love the look of nail polish but every time I paint my nails it chips within a few hours so it's just not worth the effort.
I used to buy nail polish regularly, hoping that it might be the miracle one that would last on me, but other than a Revlon Colourstay polish that I used about 15 years ago, nothing has worked.

At the recently Priceline sale I noticed that the Essie Gel Couture nail polishes were half price. I've heard good things about them so picked one up to give it a go.

I chose the colour Stitch by Stich which is a medium toned pink. It is quite sheer so I had to put on three layers for opaque coverage. It dried really quickly which was great, I hate having to sit around waiting for my nails to dry. Once I'd put the three layers on I put the top coat on and that was it.

Four days later the polish was still going strong with no flaking or chipping!
Essie says it can last up to twelve days. I got seven days wear, on the eighth day it started to flake away on the ends of my nails so I removed it.

I'd say I might have got longer wear if I'd reapplied the top coat, but I'm so happy that it looked perfect for seven day. I'm happy to pain my nails once a week.

Once I realised how awesome Gel Couture is I went back and picked up the pale pink Fairy Tailor.

Gel Couture costs $16.95 and is available and Priceline and Mecca.
