Pan

I love looking at products that other people have hit pan on so thought I'd post pictures of the products that I've hit pan on. It doesn't happen very often so I'm always really excited when I get that first glimpse of pan, unless it's a limited edition product.

Below are the products that I've currently hit pan on.

MAC matte eye shadow in Yoghurt
Jane Eye Zing in Sungloss
Benefit Dandelion
Dior Diorskin Perfectfit Compact
Lumiere Healing Concealer in Light
Becca Frangipani Creme Blush

I'm really upset about the Jane Sungloss eye shadow and the Diorskin Perfectfit powder as I can't get hold of either of these again and they're both favorites of mine.

Estee Lauder Signature Eyeshadow Quad

This is my first review of the products that I received in my Primped VIP package. Estee Lauder's Signature Eyeshadow Quad is one of the many gorgeous products that I received, reviews for the other products in my package are coming soon. The quad I received is called Gold Opulence. It contains 3 shimmery colours and one matte colour. The matte colour is the grey that you can see on the bottom right corner. The shimmer colours (from top left) are pale yellow, taupe and deep brown/bronze.

The picture above is without a flash and the picture below is with the flash.

I've never used Estee Lauder eye shadows before and now I'm wondering why. They're gorgeous! The colours go on smooth and silky and have great pigment. They wear well, look great and last all day without fading or creasing. These shadows feel very soft and creamy when I apply them, they apply smoothly and are easy to work with and blend. They also work really well as eye liners, they stay in place well and don't fade or disappear.

I'll definitely be buying more Estee Lauder eye shadows in the future!

The palette is gorgeous too. It's gold and looks very pretty. The little brushes that are included are decent quality too, they'd be fine to use if I was out and about. I love the versatility of this palette. The colours are all gorgeous and I can use them to create so many different looks, from sheer daytime looks to smokey night time looks.

Would I buy this? Definitely, these shadows are beautiful.

Casey the Supermodel Maker

I've decided to name Casey the Supermodel maker. First she made LaLa into a Supermodel and now she's made me into a Supermodel.

I had an appointment with Casey on Friday to see the new Bobbi Brown Nude Collection. It's a gorgeous range and I wanted to buy it all. Amazingly, even though Casey spent around an hour with me the appointment was free, there was no obligation or pressure to buy anything and I was even given a sample sized Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow in Copper Penny.

The pictures above really don't do Casey's work any justice, she truly made me look amazing, however due to my crap photography skills you really can't tell. If you haven't already seen it, head down to the Bobbi Brown counter to check out the Nude Collection.

My favorite part of the collection is the eye palette, the colours are beautiful, it's the sort of palette that I'd use every day.

At the end of my appointment I was given the colour chart above showing what products where used on me and where they were used.

Once again, I can't speak highly enough of Casey and the amazing customer service that she provides, so if you are in the area, head down to Myer Perth and say hello to her.

Lancome Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Make-Up Remover

You can't see it in the photo, but this is a dual tone make-up remover that you shake together before using. I'm always a sucker for dual toned products because I love watching them mix together. I should have been more sensible when I bought this though as it's really not worth the money.

It does a good job of removing my eye make-up without irritation but it's nothing amazing. I've used other eye make-up removers that get my make-up off a lot quicker and easier. With Bi-Facil I have to wipe at least five times to get all of my mascara and eye liner off.

This would be ideal for people with very sensitive skin as it's super gentle. It doesn't sting or irritate my eyes at all. I've even used it during hay fever season when my eyes were super irritated and I didn't have any problems.

Lancome says: Double-phase, fresh-as-water liquid eye makeup remover.
Activates when shaken to gently whisk away even waterproof eye makeup, while conditioning and refreshing the skin. Ideal for sensitive skin and contact lens wearers. Leaves eyes feeling cool and relaxed, with no oily residue. Ophthalmologist-Tested For Safety.

Would I buy it again? No, it's a nice job, but cheap eye make-up removers do just as good a job and I can get five cheap eye make-up removers for the price that I paid for this one.

Project 10 Pan for Skincare Update

I've been off to a really slow start with this one but have finally got a few empties this week. I have so many products that are nearly finished and I'm getting frustrated waiting to finish them off.

This week I finished Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, Pond's Wet Cleansing Towelettes, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Hand Treatment and Lancome Renergie Morpholift R.A.R.E. Four products down, six to go.

I've decided that with my samples, if they're 15mls or over I'll count them as full sized products, and if they are under that, once I've finished five I'll count them as one empty.

Australis Creme Eyeliner

Along with their new nail polishes, Australis have also bought out a range of waterproof cream eye liners. There are four different colours, the one that I have is Deep Opal which is an intense, matte black.

I'm really liking this. It applies easily and takes a minute or so to set, which gives me enough time to smudge it or make sure it's looking how I want it to. Once set it doesn't budge, smudge or fade, it stays put. The colour intensity is great, Deep Opal gives a very dark, intense black colour, perfect for the smoky eye look. This also works well as an eye shadow base. I apply a thin layer over my eye lid to intensify eye shadow colours and help them stick.

Australis says: Discover the art of beautiful eyes with Australis creme eyeliner. Line, shape and contour eyes with intense colour to effortlessly create defined lines or a smokey sultry look.
Which a creamy, long lasting, smudge proof formulation, your eyes will be emphasised all day long. Comes with an easy to use professional brush for perfect application.

Would I buy it? Yes, it's a bargain! You can buy these for $12.95 (AUD).

Ingredients: cyclopentasiloxane, isododecane, hydrogenated polyisobutene, polyethylene, silica, phenyl trimethicone, polyisobutene, dimethicone crosspolymer, disteardimonium hectorite, tocopheryl acetate, phenoxyethanol, propylene carbonate.

Bobbi Brown Corrector

I'd never heard of Bobbi Brown's Corrector until LaLa had her make-up trial. After I watched Casey apply this on LaLa I knew that I had to have it. Before my eyes LaLa's dark circles disappeared. And to, as if that wasn't amazing enough, the corrector didn't sink into her fine lines. Even when concealer and powder were applied on top, it still didn't sink into LaLa's fine lines. For the rest of the day I kept on checking LaLa out and it didn't sink into her fine lines at all. I've come to the conclusion that Corrector is a magic product, one that everyone with dark circles should run out and buy.

The secret to using this is to press it into the skin. You apply it with a brush and then press it into the skin and watch the dark circles disappear. I got Bisque which is the perfect match for my light skin and very dark circles. On days when I'm not wearing foundation I use Corrector on it's own and for those days when I'm using foundation I'll use concealer or an illuminator over the top.

Even when I put on a few layers of Corrector it doesn't sink into my fine lines. They are a tiny little bit more noticeable than usual, but in my opinion fine lines and wrinkles are always slightly more noticeable when wearing make-up.

Bobbi Brown says: For very dark circles and extra coverage, Bobbi's secret is her Correctors. Use daily or just when you need extra coverage. Designed to be layered under your yellow-based Creamy Concealer shade, Correctors come in a range of twelve Bisque and Peach shades. Corrector for extra dark circles apply corrector up to the lash line and into inner corner of eye. Layer with creamy concealer. Apply powder over concealer to set.

Would I buy it again? Definitely, it's become a holy grail product for me.

Ingredients: petrolatum, bis-diglyceryl polyacyladipate-2, octyldodecyl stearoyl stearate, methyl methacrylate crosspolymer, tribenenin, tocopheryl acetate, retinyl palmitate, oxokerite, lecithin, propylene glycol stearate, sorbitan laurate, polysorbate 20, propylene glycol laurate.
May contain: titanium dioxide (ci 77891), iron oxides (ci 77491, ci 77492, ci 77499), mica, ultramarines (ci 77007), carmine (ci 75470).

Niyama Organic Lip Glaze

About a month ago I was lucky enough to receive a tube of Niyama Organic Silver Shimmer Lip Glaze to try. I've been using it daily since I received it and it's beautiful. I really like to support Australian companies wherever possible, and have been discovering more and more of them lately which is great. I'm also a big fan of natural and organic products. As you can see from the list below, there are minimal ingredients in Niyama Organic Lip Glaze and they're all natural.

Niyama's Organic Lip Glaze is like using two products in one. It gives the lovely, light shine of a lip gloss and the feel of a light lip balm. Using this has kept my lips soft, moisturised and in good condition. In the tube Silver Shimmer looks like a white, sparkly balm, when applied it's a clear, shiny gloss. Plus, it smells like honey.

About Niyama: Niyama Naturopathic Skin Therapy is created using naturopathic to blend what nature provides us with to to deliver a skin care system that is as good for you as it is for the earth. Each ingredient has been carefully selected for it's ability to regenerate and restore our skin to it's optimal vitality.
Niyama is an Australian company based in NSW.

Would I buy it? Yes, it's a beautiful product, I love that's it's Australian, all natural and smells like honey.

Ingredients: organic camellia oil, organic cocoa butter, organic beeswax, natural mica.

I'm a Primped VIP!

I was lucky enough to be chosen by Primped to be in their VIP club. I paid a fee to join and for that fee I'll get sent four packages to review over the next year.

I received my first package yesterday, so watch out for the reviews that will be coming up soon.

Some of the products I received have not been released yet, so I'm very excited to be able to tell you all about them.

Australis Nail Colour

To my great excitement, Australis have been bringing out lots of new products lately. I love it when brands bring out new products, it's always exciting seeing something different sitting on the shelves. One of their latest products is four new nail polish colours that are designed to match their four new creme eyeliners. I've tried both products and there will be a review of the creme eyeliners coming up soon.

I'm really happy with these polishes. I have Deep Opal which looks black in the bottle but is a very dark charcoal colour with a subtle shimmer. For $7.95 this nail polish is a bargain. Without a base or top coat it lasts 3 days on me with no chipping. That's just as good as the more expensive nail polishes! When I use a top coat this lasts between five to seven days without chipping.

Colour wise I'm also really happy. One coat gives a sheer, see through colour and two coats give a deep, opaque colour. When my nails are in better condition I'll post a picture of me with Deep Opal on.

Would I buy it? Yes.

Mirenesse Sexy Secret Eye Primer

Remember how I was telling you about an amazing new product that I'd discovered? My original post is here. I decided that it's high time I put you all out of your misery and told you what the amazing new product is. If you haven't already guessed from the title, it's Mirenesse's Sexy Secret Eye Primer. Despite what the title suggest, I've been using this as an under eye concealer.

Mirenesse says: Eye Primer Base Line Filler Concealer with Sepilift Amazing 4-in-1 Anti-Ageing Concealer. A unique professional strength liquid to powder concealer with anti-wrinkle action plus it is the ideal: shadow base, line filler, concealer and brightener. Benefits: Anti-ageing long lasting concealer with many more benefits! It instantly and visibly reduces the appearance of ageing discolourations. A creamy product that once applied turns into an illuminating powder that conceals while being barely visible. Highly specialised pigment technology diminishes to look of dark circles, signs of fatigue and brown spots instantly transforming into a soft powder that soft focuses the face as if it had been illuminated with a photographic light.
Sepilift minimises fine lines keeping the eye area youthful. A plant-derived ingredient that provides firming action to the skin along with anti-wrinkle rejuvenation and moisturisation properties. Clinically proven to decrease number and depth of crows feet wrinkles by up to 60%. Corrects redness, blemishes discolorations. Uniquely infused with Co-Q10 treatment. Easy, fast application. SPF 15. Uniquely utilises advanced pigment and soft focus silk infused light reflective technology to fill in and instantly diffuse fine lines, redness and create a more youthful, fresh looking eye area. When used as a base, it helps pigments appear more intense and to keep eye makeup in place for over 18 hours! Helps to keep blemishes, dark circles and skin discolouration concealed while actively treating them. Made In Australia.

I am in love with this product. It's one of the best under eye concealers that I've ever tried. Unlike most products, it barely sinks into my fine lines and most days it doesn't sink into my fine lines at all. I have quite bad dark circles so this doesn't totally cover them, however it makes them significantly lighter. I'm happy to trade off total coverage with it not sinking into my fine lines.

As a primer I don't really like it. Whilst it does make my eyeshadow stick better, it doesn't help with creasing, and in my opinion that's the whole reason for using a primer.

Would I buy it again? Yes, it's a wonderful product.

Ingredients: water, cyclopentasiloxane, sodium hyaluronate, hydrolyzed silk, glycerin, diethylhexyl adipate, nylon-12, c11-12 isoparrafin, cetyl peg/ppg-10/1 dimethicone, aluminium starch octenylsuccinate, sorbitan sesquioleate, trimethylsiloxysilicate, polyglyceryl-4 isostearate, dimethicone, zinc oxide, lauroyl lysine, dipalmitoyl hydroxylproline, hydroxyethylcellulose, dimethiconol, alumina, magnesium sulfate, phenoxyethanol, synthetic beeswax, tocopheryl acetate, disteardimonium hectorite, stearyl beeswax, behenyl beeswas, carageenan, lactic acid, acrylates/c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, sodium lactate, ppg-17/ipdi/dmpa copolymer.

Samples

I'm about to have a rant here, so look away if you don't want to know about it.

Why are companies in Australia so difficult about giving out samples? I just don't understand it. The way the sales assistants carry on you'd think they were paying for the samples themselves. They don't seem to realise that when they give out samples and give good customer service, they get repeat business and new customers, but when they are rude or snotty they loose customers and business.

I love getting samples and try to get them whenever I can. Not because I want something for free, but because I want to test out products before I buy. Most of the time when I'm given a sample I end up buying the product. But so many companies don't give out samples or are really stingy about it. Surely if they are confident that their products work then they wouldn't mind giving out samples?

Alpha-H are brilliant with samples. Every time I've contacted them they've been happy to send out samples, and as a result of that I use their products. There is a sales assistant at Lancome who is generous with samples, so I make sure that I always see her when I'm buying something from Lancome. Kit and Mecca are brilliant with samples too. They always happy to give out samples, which is one of the reasons I shop with them so often.

Estee Lauder is one company that doesn't like giving out samples. I've asked for samples at the counter and online and they won't give them out. Even when I had a voucher for a sample they didn't want to give me the sample, but eventually gave it to me whilst making it sound like they were doing me a favour. When I emailed Estee Lauder to ask about samples they said that they don't have them (which is not true because when I was at the counter I saw a drawer full of samples), but that they have a 100% money back guarantee if you aren't happy with the product. Can you imagine trying to take something back that you weren't happy with? I've never tried it, but I doubt that the staff would agree to refund a product that had been used.

I understand why companies might not want to give out samples to people who haven't bought anything, but surely they should be okay about giving out samples with purchase? Apparently not. I usually only ask for samples when I'm buying something and a lot of the time I get told they don't have samples. It just doesn't make sense to me.

My recent purchases

I've been doing a little bit of shopping lately so thought I'd share my purchases with you. Amazing as it sounds, I don't go shopping that often, which is why I don't have lots of posts about things I've purchased.

The photo above clockwise from top left is: Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow in Ash, Bobbi Brown Bisque Corrector, MAC Et Tu Bouquet Eyeshadow and MAC Satin Taupe Eyeshadow.

Below is: Stila Foundation Wardrobe Light

I'm so excited to test everything out. I've already used the Bobbi Brown Bisque Corrector and it's amazing. It's one of the nicest products I've ever used. Once I've had a chance to test everything out I'll do reviews of them.

Excellent customer service

Yesterday LaLa and I went to the Bobbi Brown counter at Myer for LaLa's wedding make-up trial. We were lucky enough to have Casey helping us and she did such a good job that I just had to write about it.

Casey spent over an hour with us. First she talked to LaLa about the skincare that she uses, what her wedding is going to be like, what her dress looks like, how she's having her hair, what jewelery she'll be wearing and what make-up look she wanted. Then they spoke about the make-up that LaLa uses now and what she's comfortable with.

Once they had that sorted Casey used a magic product (that we both bought). It's Bobbi Brown's Corrector. I was absolutely amazed watching as she applied the corrector to the dark circles under LaLa's eyes. They literally disappeared as I watched. And, after the corrector was on it didn't sink into LaLa's fine lines, it looked flawless! On top of that she applied concealer and then set it all with a light dusting of powder. Next Casey chose a foundation colour. She explained why she was choosing the colour and how she was matching it to LaLa's skin tone. Then she narrowed it down to two different colours and showed them both to LaLa whilst explaining why the lighter one worked better for her (because it blended in well with the skin on both her face and neck). Once they'd picked the foundation colour Casey asked what type of foundation LaLa prefers and they settled on a liquid foundation.

Every step of the way Casey explained what she was doing and why she was doing it, and answered any questions that we had. Once the foundation and powder were on she applied a very light dusting of bronzer then chose a blush colour by holding the different colours up to LaLa's face. It was a great way to easily see which colours worked and which ones didn't.

Next it was on to eye brows and then eye makeup. It's amazing how beautiful simple eye make-up can look. Casey used a deep gold in the crease with a shimmery stone shadow on the eyelid, a fine brown eye liner, a slight shimmer on the brow bone and lots of mascara. Then she applied a glossy pink lipstick and LaLa looked like a supermodel.

The great thing about Casey was that she explained everything and did not pressure us to buy anything. She wrote down everything that she'd used on LaLa and put the prices next to each item. She also drew an illustration of where she'd put the eye make-up (they'd run out of face charts) and told LaLa that if she has any questions to give her a call.

I can't recommend Casey highly enough. She did a beautiful job of LaLa's make-up and was so lovely, we had a great time with her. I'll definitely be going back to see her again.

DuWop Twilight Lip Venom

DuWop says: Be transformed. Let the alchemy transcend. Twilight Venom is not your typical DuWop venom. Instead of a gloss, Twilight Venom is a shimmering crimson lip stain suspended in a venom-laced liquid lip conditioner with a super potent bite (watch out!), and contains argan, avocado, olive oils and vitamin E. This product should be shaken before use to represent the blending of the human and vampire worlds and applied repeatedly until lips are plumped, revitalized and the desired intensity of color has been reached.

GQ says: I'm not sure how a lip stain is supposed to revitalise lips. I certainly haven't noticed my lips looking revitalised when I use Twlight Lip Venom, nor have I noticed any lip plumping effects. However, I can say that Twlight Venom lasts for ages. I put it on at 6am and it's still there at 6pm. The colour is slightly faded but it's still clearly visible.

After reading what Duwop had to say about Twilight Lip Venom I was expecting a real sting, but I didn't notice any sting and hardly even a tingle. The tingle is a lot less than I get with the normal Lip Venom. It has quite a watery texture so I have to be careful how I apply it or else I end up with it all over my face (which is not a good look). I usually just put a little bit on my bottom lip and then rub my lips together.

I'm considering getting a backup of this because I really like it, mainly because it lasts for so long. The colour is gorgeous, a deep but sheer, dark red stain, just like the colour you can see in the picture above.

If you're interested in Twilight Lip Venom, get it fast because it's limited edition.

Would I buy it again? Definitely.

Covergirl Outlast Lip Stain

I've been eagerly waiting for Covergirl's Outlast Lip Stain to arrive in Australia, and I'm so glad that it finally has. This is what I call a true lip stain. It really does stain my lips and it lasts all day. I apply it at 6.30am and it's still visible at 4.00pm. Out of all the lip stains I've tried, this is the only one that lasts the whole day.

Covergirl says: The water-based colorants of Outlast Lipstain give lips a beautiful, lightweight flush of color that won't come off, lasting for hours without the heavy look or feel of an ordinary lipstick. Its pen-like precision applicator makes it easy to define your lips- just draw on color without any hassle!

I have to agree. It gives a very pretty wash of colour that can be applied lightly for a sheer stain or layered on for an intense burst of colour. I usually apply two or three layers so that the colour lasts all day. Outlast Lip Stain wears off evenly, without leaving any patches or strange looking lines.

I have this in Sassy Mauve which is very close to my natural lip colour. On me it looks like a deep pink.

There are 10 different colours available:

Cinnamon Shine
Flirty Nude
Berry Smooch
Wild Berry Wink
Sassy Mauve
Teasing Blush
Plum Pout
Coy Coral
Bit of Blossom
Everbloom Kiss

Would I buy it again? Yes, I'm planning on getting a few more colours.

Bourjois 8 Hour Sleep Foundation

The lovely ladies at Adore Beauty put me onto this foundation and to my great delight I managed to pick it up when it was 50% off at Target, so it only cost me $15. I'm so happy I took their advice and bought one, because it's a lovely foundation. I find it very similar to my Korres Wild Rose foundation.

Bourjois says: 10 Hour Sleep Effect, Bourjois comes to the rescue!
This Anti-fatigue foundation conceals all signs of fatigue thanks to a formula enriched with a high concentration of vitamins E, F, B5 and minerals. Dark circles, skin imperfections and a dull complexion are replaced with an even and rested complexion. Light and non oily formula. Pump bottle to provide the perfect dose.

When I compare this with the Korres foundation I don't find many differences at all (other than the price). Ten Hour Sleep foundation is a light to medium coverage foundation that gives me a fresh, healthy look. I always get told I'm looking really healthy when I wear it. For those times when I want a heavier coverage I apply powder over the top.

I don't find this foundation to be at all oily, nor is it drying, it's the perfect formula for my combination skin.

Would I buy it again? Yes, it's a lovely, light foundation.

Maybelline Volume XL Seduction Plumping Lipcolour

When I saw in the Maybelline newsletter that they had a new lip plumping lipstick I had to have it. It took me while to find it, I went to five different stores before I finally found it at a Priceline. They were on sale so I only paid $12.95 (AUD). I purchased colour 620, In the Nude.

I'm really happy with this lipstick. As expected, I don't notice any plumping at all, but still, it's a nice lipstick. It has good pigmentation with a glossy finish. As with most glossy finish lipsticks, it doesn't last for ages, but will last at least 2 hours before I need to reapply.

On the tube is a sticker with the following warning: This product may cause a temporary tingling sensation which is normal. Discontinue use if you experience excessive discomfort. Do not use on chapped, damaged or sensitive lips.

Fair enough, however you can only see the sticker once you've removed the plastic wrapper after you've bought the product, which seems pretty silly.
Also, there's no ingredient list.

The first two times I applied this it tingled quite badly, but the tingle only lasted for a few minutes. After that when I applied it the tingle was barely noticeable, and now that I've been using it for about three weeks I don't notice a tingle at all.

Maybelline says: Collagen + cream color. Collagen formula with active amplifiers stimulate circulation. In 10 seductive shades.

Would I buy it again? Yes, it's a nice lipstick at a reasonable price.

Kiehl's Superbly Efficient Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant Cream

For those of you who suffer from very sensitive underarms like I do, Kiehl's deodorant is a life saver. It's a very gentle, cream deodorant that doesn't irritate my underarms at all. It's gentle enough that I can even use it when my underarms are sore and irritated.

I use this as my winter deodorant. In summer it's not quite strong enough to be effective, but for all other seasons it's perfect. I love that it's so gentle. It also doesn't leave any white marks on my clothes and it dries really quickly. This is a fragrance free deodorant.

Kiehl's says: With orange, lemon and linseed extracts. Our unique preparation is an unscented, extremely gentle yet efficient antiperspirant and deodorant cream offering unique skin care benefits. Leaves skin feeling soft, soothed and conditioned with 24 hour protection against sweat and odor. Reduces under arm perspiration utilising advanced micro sized drying molecules for sheer absorption with no residue. Through our truly unique blend of ingredients, underarm hair will feel softer, resulting in a smoother shave experience.

I can't say I've noticed any difference in the condition of my underarm hair, however as I shave every day this doesn't really surprise me. I paid $23 (AUD) for my deodorant.

Would I buy this again? Yes, it's a lovely, gentle product.

Ingredients: water, isopropyl myristate, cetyl esters, propylene glycol, peg-75 stearate, glyceryl stearate, cetyl alcohol, ceteth-20, steareth-20, dimethicone, methylparaben, propylparaben, bisabolol, citrus aurantium dulcis fruit extract, citrus medica limonum peel extract, linum usitatissimum seed extract, farnesol, quillaja saponaria bark extract, hamamelis virginiana extract.
