Face Oils

Until a few years ago using oils as part of a skin care routine was not very common. I used to get strange looks from people when I told them that I used Jurlique's Rose oil to remove my make-up. Now oils are much easier to get hold of and there is a great range available from cheap to expensive.

Oils are great for people with sensitive skin and those who like to use gentle skin care products, they are great for anti-aging and for regulating oily skin. Basically, they can do it all. I find oils particularly great when I have eczema or skin rashes as they don't sting or irritate.

I've learned with oils that the best way to apply them is to press them into the skin. When I first started using oils I put way too much on and ended up with very greasy skin. I've since learned to put a few drops in the palm of my hand, rub my hands together to warm the oil and then press it into my skin.

Oils I love:
Seven Wonders Moroccan Argan Oil Skin Serum - This is rich in Vitamin E which is great for skin rejuvenation and hydration. I've used other Argan Oils in the past, however the Seven Wonders version is my favourite. It is very light and absorbs quickly. When I use this regularly my skin feels very soft, smooth and hydrated. As an added bonus, it smells like roses. A 20ml bottle costs $22.50

Botani Olive Skin Serum - This is a great product that takes the place of 4 other products for me. It's the only product I need to use in the mornings before putting on my makeup and it makes my skin feel lovely and soft. You can read my full review here. A 15ml bottle costs $31.95.

Rosehip Oil - This naturally has a high level of Vitamin C making it great for anti-ageing. My favourite brand is Echolife. They sell a 50ml bottle for the bargain price of $23.90 with free shipping. Rosehip oil can be used on the whole body, including the hair. I used Rosehip oil on my back when I got sunburned on holidays and the next day I woke up and the sunburn was gone!

Jojoba Oil - This is technically not an oil, it's a wax, but it feels like an oil. Jojoba is high in fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamins A, D and E and is great for regulating oily skin. Like Rosehip Oil, jojoba can be used on the whole body including hair. I use The Jojoba Company oil. They have several sizes available ranging in price from $19.95 to $49.95.

Oils I want to try:
Goe Oil - Jao Goe Oil is a combination of 28 plant fruit and flower oils and butters. Lightly scented with Monoi from Tahiti, it absorbs quickly and leaves skin feeling incredibly smooth. Lighter than a typical body butter, longer lasting than a moisturiser with a high percentage of Jojoba oil.

An Audra James Oil - I just know that an Audra oil would be amazing. She custom blends them so that you get a product made just for you.

  1. Great post, my favourite oil to use is the Luxury Camellia Oil by Okoii Natural Skin Care http://www.okoii.com/prdcamsigna.php I never thought using oil could be so great for my skin but this product has been amazing. I've never tried Argan Oil though so I'll have to give that Seven Wonders product a try sometime.
