This year

I didn't make any new beauty resolutions this year, however I've just thought of one. I'm going to master liquid eye liner. Eye lining has never been my strong point, I love the way it looks but can't manage to do it right myself.

I'm of the opinion that liquid liner looks very polished and is great with minimal eye shadow. As a Mummy to be I figure that I won't have a lot of time to apply my make-up and yet I still want to look polished and put together. Hence my determination to master the use of liquid eye liner.

One blogger who particular inspires me to get liquid eye liner right is Stef from The Lip Print. She does gorgeous FOTD's using liquid liner. Stef kindly gave me permission to use two of her liquid eye liner photo's.

These are the two looks that really inspired me to master the use of liquid eye liner:

Aren't they beautiful? If you'd like to see Stef's full post for these two looks, they are here and here. A huge thank you to Stef for allowing me to post her photo's.

I've bought about four different liquid eye liners and have been practising with them. So far I haven't managed to get a straight, flawless line but I'm hoping I'll get better with more practice. I am starting to get the hang of making the line thicker at the end, but it still ends up a bit messy. If anyone has any liquid eye liner tips, feel free to post them in the comments.

  1. I haven't managed to master this either - just does not work for me! Instead I use cream and gel eye liners which are far easier to you IMHO. I have a Clinique Cream Eye Liner in black, and Maybelline Gel Eye Liners in Black and Brown. I find I get the same effect but much easier than using liquid liner as both take a little bit longer to dry, so you have more time to fix up mistakes! I also find that q-tips are my best friend for cleaning up any mistakes!

  2. I like the lil paint brushy ones the best, and sometimes it helps to steady your elbow on something flat :)

  3. Gorgeous! I used to wear liquid liner every day and loved it. I think the trick is to start from the middle and work out, then go back and do the fine line (inner to middle lid). Also, it's important to get it right into the lash line. There's nothing worse than liquid liner that floats above the lash line! I'm actually on the hunt for a MAC 210 at the moment, but am seriously considering just buying a tiny brush from an art store!

  4. I love liquid eyeliner and I'm really starting to get into gel eyeliner as well. If you get a good one it almost applies itself.

  5. I am going to practice this too - my hands are not steady enough for precise lines so I tend to avoid it. But I'm also lazy so I haven't really tried very hard.
